Interdependence Day Festival of Arts & Community

July 1, 2017, 12:00pm - July 1, 2017, 6:00pm

The Dance Palace

Members of WAG (Writers & Artists Group), and West Marin Standing Together are planning an event called “Interdependence Day Festival of Arts and Community” that is designed to engage as many members of the community as possible in some form of artistic expression as a means of sharing our thoughts and feelings about the current state of the world, and a way to envision the world we want to live in. The arts have the power to heal by providing a vehicle for expression, and to create connection by bringing people together. The event will take place at various locations throughout downtown Point Reyes Station on Saturday, July 1st, with a hub at the Dance Palace. Depending on the amount of participant involvement, the event could extend to July 2nd. • STATEMENT OF PURPOSE FOR THE EVENT: To provide a variety of artistic platforms within one event, which build community solidarity and celebrate its many facets, and in turn, empowers the community to come together in the face of a political climate that persists in the oppression of humanity, and a glaring lack of concern for the health of the planet. Where you come in… We want you or your group to provide a forum for artistic expression. This means that you might provide a performance, an art display, a hands-on activity of some kind, designed to entertain or engage the attendees in thought provoking and artistic delight. We will then put your activity, display, or performance on the event map, and create a schedule so that attendees can find you and witness your offering. On the application below, please give us a brief description of what you are planning to create for the event, and if there is a specific location where you’d like it to take place, let us know. NOTE: Please do not make location arrangements yourself, as we may have people vying for the same location, or scheduling issues to work out. We will be the point persons for the logistics of this event, and we appreciate your cooperation with this. If you would like an application, send an email to: InterdependenceFest@gmail.com Contact Celine Underwood @ (415) 827-9206 or Shelley Rugg @ (415) 250-4121 if you have any questions. DEADLINE for PARTICIPANTS: JUNE 1ST
